Play Area Naming Competition

Terms and Conditions of Entry

  • Entries open on 18 July 2024
  • Entries close at 11.59pm on 31 July 2024
  • Only entries made on the designated competition entry form or received via post will be counted. Postal entries must be sent at your own expense to The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, postmarked before 31 July 2024 and received no later than 14 August 2024. Entries received after this date will not be counted.
  • Entries are made by posting your suggested name for the play areas, vis the designated competition form. Names suggested must be appropriate and not include any content which can be deemed racist, contain hate, or are overly offensive. Repeat offenders may be blocked from the page and banned from entering this and future competitions.
  • Once entries have close on 31 July 2024, a shortlist of minimum three and maximum five of the best names will be picked for each play area, by a panel made up of representatives of The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum (The Friends) and Westonbirt Arboretum/Forestry England. These names will be listed for a vote by members of the public to select the final names. The vote will open no later than 9am on Saturday 3 August 2024, and will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 11 August 2024.
  • The winner will be the play area name with the most votes, and will be notified by email no later than 30 August 2024. The prize will be one year’s membership for two adults and up to four related children. The equivalent value will be £85, but there will be no cash alternative. The membership must be secured and registered no later than 30 September 2024, or the prize will be void. The only exception is for existing members of The Friends, who will be able to use the prize to renew on their renewal date on or before 30 August 2025, or gift the membership to a friend no later than 30 September 2024.
  • In the event of a tie for votes, the winner will be selected by The Friends and Forestry England Team. Their decision is final.
  • In the event that the same name is suggested by two competitors, and ultimately shortlisted for voting, an extra prize will be made available so that both nominees are rewarded.
  • Runners up will be classed as those whose entries made the selected shortlist for voting, and will be notified by email no later than 30 August 2024. The prize will be a £10 voucher to spend in The Shop at Westonbirt Arboretum. The vouchers must be redeemed before 12 August 2025. Vouchers can be used in conjunction with the 10% discount given to the Members of the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum.
  • Entries are unlimited and individuals can enter as many times as they like. One entry per name submitted.
  • No cash alternative for any prize
  • The winner must be able to redeem their prize. The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, Westonbirt Arboretum, and Forestry England will take no responsibility for circumstances which prevent the winner from redeeming or using their prize
  • The winner will be responsible for all other costs associated with their prize, including but not limited to travel, food & drink, and activities
  • In line with our standard membership terms, the primary member must be over the age of 18. Proof of age may be requested. Individuals under 18 can enter the competition, but the prize of membership must include an adult over the age of 18.
  • The prize cannot be transferred to another person

  • The Friends reserve the right to cancel, amend or withdraw this prize at any time, without explanation. All rights reserved.
