Posted: March 25, 2025 at 16:54 pm

Imagine stepping into a world where the delicate shimmer of fused glass echoes the dew on a forest leaf, and vibrant embroidered birds perch on fabric blooms, rescued from a life destined for landfill. This isn't a dream, it's the reality of "Handmade Nature," a captivating exhibition coming to Westonbirt Arboretum's Great Oak Hall from Wednesday 16 April to Bank Holiday Monday 21 April!

Prepare to be enchanted by the artistry of two remarkable creators: Ashleigh Proud and Fatpoppycat. Both are driven by an unwavering love for the natural world, transforming fleeting moments of beauty into tangible treasures.

Ashleigh Proud: Capturing Forest Fantasies in Enamel

Ashleigh's work is a symphony of light and colour, born from the heart of the forest. Her enamelled pieces are like captured memories, each shimmering with the essence of childhood walks and found natural wonders. Imagine the thrill of witnessing molten glass fuse to metal, a process as unpredictable and beautiful as nature itself. Each piece, fired in the kiln, emerges unique, bearing the marks of its transformative journey. Ashleigh's recent showcases at Lower Slaughter, RHS Malvern, and previous events at Westonbirt Arboretum have already captivated audiences, and her return promises to be equally mesmerising.

Fatpoppycat: A Tapestry of Textile and Mosaic Magic

Meanwhile, Fatpoppycat weaves a different kind of magic, breathing new life into discarded fabrics with her intricate free motion embroidery. Her wildlife garden and daily walks are her muse, inspiring a menagerie of birds, animals, and flowers that burst with colour and texture. But her talents don't stop there! Witness her stunning felted vases, adorned with delicate needle felting and shimmering glass beads, and her robust mosaic house numbers and wall plaques, perfect for adding a touch of rustic charm to any outdoor space. Having delighted visitors at RHS Malvern and the Country Living Christmas fair, Fatpoppycat is ready to share her latest creations.
